Stability in Lebanon contributes to more job opportunities and investment in the country, said Lebanese President Michel Suleiman on Thursday.
According to a statement released by the president's office, Suleiman praised during a meeting in the presidential palace near Beirut with a U.S. delegation including U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michele Sison, the role of the Lebanese residing abroad and their efforts to reflect a "civilized image of Lebanon."
"The country's stability contributes to more job opportunities and investment in Lebanon," he added.
Suleiman also met with Luxembourg Economy and Foreign Trade Minister Jeannot Krecke to discuss the possibility of bilateral economic cooperation.
The president's office said that Krecke commended Lebanon's regaining internal stability and international confidence during the last two years which granted it a high level of credibility, a main pillar to attract investors.
A national unity government formed in November restored stability to Lebanon's economy after a devastating war with Israel in 2006 and internal political conflicts.
And the country is now experiencing the most peaceful period after the war. Tourism for example is again becoming a drive of the country's economy.
Preliminary figures issued by the United Nations World Tourism Organization in March indicated that Lebanon posted the highest growth rate in tourist arrivals in the world in 2009 with a 39 percent increase from the previous year.
