Fix a Cloudy Marble Floor

Updated:2014-06-27 11:05:24
Marble floors are recognized for their varying hues, natural elegance and overall aesthetic appeal. Exposure to harsh cleaning products can generate chemical reactions that slightly etch marble floor finishes. Etching causes marble floor surfaces to develop a dull, cloudy haze. The longer this white haze remains on marble surfaces, the more difficult it is to remove. Promptly treat etched marble floors to preserve their appearance and longevity. Fortunately, some basic supplies and techniques can effectively fix a cloudy marble floor.

Instructions as follows:

Firstly, dry-mop the floor with a dust mop to remove all loose dust, dirt and grime.
Secondly, fill a mop pail with cool water. Wet the cloudy area of the floor with the water, using a sponge mop.
Thirdly, sprinkle marble polishing powder over the wet marble slab. Follow the manufacturer's directions on the product's label.
Fourthly, dampen a clean microfiber cloth with cool water. Buff the marble with a damp cloth, using circular motions. Rub the powder into the marble until the etching disappears. Frequently rinse the cloth with fresh water to prevent reapplying grime to the marble countertop.
Fifthly, refill the mop pail with fresh water. Mop the floor with the water to rinse away any residue.
